The last notebook you'll ever need
Midori traveler’s notebook
We think the Midori traveller’s notebooks are some of the best in the world. The notebooks consist of two main components, the cover and the inserts, as well as a series of accessories to enhance your notebook.
The cover
The Traveller’s notebook starts with the cover. The thick leather protects the inserts and binds them together. The cover is available in two sizes, regular and a smaller passport size. The size you choose depends on how you intend to use your notebook. The passport is more portable and would work better if you want to slip it into a pocket and take notes on the move. Due to its smaller size it doesn’t have quite as many options for inserts, but it compensates by being slightly cheaper. The Larger classic size would work better for someone who keeps an exceptionally detailed planner or likes to store other documents in their notebook. Every cover also includes one blank insert, a cotton case and a spare rubber band.
Cover Sizes
The cover is made in Chiang Mai, a city in mountainous northern Thailand, by Skilled Craftsmen. The leather used is 2 mm cowhide that has been vegetable-tanned a selection of colours and left unprocessed. This keeps the leather more supple and has the secondary benefit of aging gracefully. Due to the handmade nature of the cover the leather may come with a few unique ‘raw’ marks.
As you use your Midori Traveler's Notebook, it takes on character; a map of your travels and a mark of its use. Over the years, Midori will become your lifetime companion
The inserts
What makes the Traveler's Notebook so timeless is the ability to separate the cover from the contents. This is what facilitates the customization and lets you build the exact notebook that you’re looking for. Most inserts are made using Midori MD paper and is incredibly smooth, bleed-resistant, feather-resistant, and works well with fountain pens. The paper is available in the regular styles: blank, lined and grid as well as a series of planners for more organization. But what if the MD paper isn't ideal? That’s fine too because they also have thinner lightweight paper for traveling and sketch paper with perforated edges that you can tear out
Paper insert types:
- blank $6.50
- lined $6.50
- grid $6.50
- Daily planner $8.00
- Weekly planner $14.00
- Monthly planner $12.00
- sketch paper $8.00
Another great thing about the inserts is that you don't have to choose just one. Most people end up using at least two different inserts at the same time. This means you could have a weekly planner to stay organized every hour mixed with a monthly calendar to see the big picture. You can truly mix and match to find your style.
The accessories
The Accessories are what takes you traveller’s notebooks experience to the next level, it’s all the useful little stuff that you didn’t know you needed. For keeping small items close at hand there are folders, stick on pockets and a zippered case. To quickly add more inserts there is a set of Connecting bands. As great as the traveller’s notebooks notebook are, they aren't indestructible, so what do you do if it breaks? Midori has even thought about that and makes a dedicated repair kit that allows you to easily fix and customize your notebook.
